Colin Farrell fought hard to make The Penguin smoke tobacco in Batman (2022), but was unsuccessful
Scenario
Following the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin, is making a play to seize the reins of Gotham’s crime world. Aside from a bat-sniffing cameo in the final shot of the season finale, we never got a Robert Pattinson cameo in «The Penguin.» In this short video, IMDb attempts to answer: Where the hell was Batman?

In his own series, however, the character is depicted as a casual tobacco user, preferring to smoke cigars. An umbrella falls and the emblem turns into the Warner Bros.

logo. A direct sequel to the first episode, Matt Reeves' The Batman and I think those who haven’t seen the latter are a bit lost.
It captures both the aesthetic and the gritty tone of the film nicely, though there are far more slyly lighthearted moments in the show than in the film
But I’ve been watching The Batman for a while now, and this series has done a wonderful job of quickly picking up where the movie left off without getting bogged down in a didactic recap. As in The Batman, Colin Farrell does an excellent job of portraying the Penguin as a stereotypical mobster «street kid»: rude, profane, mercurial, and violent; but also knowledgeable, cunning, and able to read people.
But it’s off to a great start so far
The character may have nothing to do with the comic book version, but he’s interesting in his own right. I have my doubts about casting The Penguin as a teenage sidekick; and I don’t know if the Penguin’s antics will be enough to sustain an entire season.
