Scenario
After months of isolation, Isherwood “Ish” Williams learns that most of the world has fallen to a mysterious disease. Yet despite his instinct to isolate himself even more, Ish leads a group dedicated to developing a new civilization.
The novel was written in the late 1940s, after the end of World War II

The version on my shelf has a copyright of 1947, but Wikipedia lists it as 1949
The impact of this story is that 80 years ago someone wrote about a global pandemic and its ultimate impact on people. Ish represents the reader, someone who didn’t have to watch people die, watch the news, feel hopeless and defeated.
It ties in very strongly with the poem of Ozymandias
Those he meets represent ways people might have coped with these enormous losses. The fragility of man and the recklessness of humanity in its achievements.

I am eagerly awaiting the remaining episodes and re-reading the novel. One Hundred Years of Solitude is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
